                               CANNING ARTS COMPETITION

Tadaaah!  Our independent judges have generously given their time and have now done the business; and at last, we can announce the keenly-awaited results of the Canning Arts Competition.

The winner is Kristina Stephanie Zavros,
with her poem, The Roots Of Canning Street.
Congratulations to Kristina, and thanks to everybody for entering.

Kristina wins a copy of the Canning History Project’s book about the Canning area, to be published in 2016, and her poem will be included in the book.

We’ll be having a one-evening display of the competition entries – poems, paintings and photographs – at Blackburne House at 7.30pm–10.30pm on Friday 12th June, to which all entrants will be invited, as will the project’s volunteers and our other supporters.  Refreshments will be provided.

Our independent judges for the competition were Ann Marie Briggs, poet; Peter Corbett, artist (whose current exhibition can be seen at the Victoria Gallery & Museum); and Penny Hope, occasional interior designer.  All three are residents of the Canning area.

Thanks again to all the entrants, and we look forward to seeing you at the display evening.

The Canning History Project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
